See your service through a fresh pair of eyes.
A Service Review Day is a day dedicated to stepping outside the day-to-day pressures and taking a considered, independent look at your service as a whole.
Every service is different, so I don't arrive with a standard audit and work my way through a generic checklist.
I'll spend around 7 hours within your service, getting to understand how it works in practice — talking with you and the people involved, exploring the issues that matter to you, reviewing relevant systems and evidence, and following what I find as the day develops.
The aim is to give you something that's often difficult to get when you're immersed in running the service yourself: time, perspective and an experienced independent view of where your attention will make the greatest difference.

What happens during a Service Review Day?
A review day is not about trying to catch anyone out or producing a list of things that are wrong.
We'll look at what's working well as well as what could be stronger. I'll ask questions, look at how things work in practice and explore areas further where something warrants a closer look.
Because the review considers the service as a whole, we may find that an issue you thought was about quality is actually rooted in leadership capacity — or that the barrier to growth isn't marketing at all, but something operational that needs addressing first.
Where the day goes is led by your service and what we uncover together.
Your findings, brought together into a clear plan
After the visit, I bring everything together into a comprehensive written report so the value of the day doesn't disappear when I leave.
Your report will capture:
-
what’s working well and should be built upon
-
areas that would benefit from attention
-
any concerns or vulnerabilities identified
-
connections between issues that may initially have appeared unrelated
-
clear, practical recommendations
-
priorities to help you decide what needs attention first
The purpose isn’t to leave you with an overwhelming list of actions. It’s to give you a clearer understanding of your service and a practical, prioritised view of where to focus next.

Could a Service Review help you?
You don't need to have a specific problem — and you certainly don't need to wait until something has gone wrong.
You may want an independent view because the service feels harder to manage than it should, because you're considering growth or change, because the same issues keep resurfacing, or simply because you want to know what someone experienced and independent would see that you may no longer notice yourself.

A note from me
Every service is different, and I know inviting someone in to take an independent look can feel like a big step.
My approach is straightforward: listen, understand what matters to you, look at the service as a whole, and give you an honest view of what I see.
If you’d like to talk through whether a Service Review would be useful for your service, I’d be very happy to have a chat.
